Morning of Day 5

This morning as I head to bed, I would like to report that I drank 1 glass of milk, ate a 2ND bowl of potato soup and am currently on my 3rd cup of hot tea.
All together, I have consumed about 70 cents worth of food and drinks.
  • 4 cents per cup of tea with 2 teaspoons of sugar each
  • 40 cents (estimated) per bowl of Potato Soup
  • 19 cents per glass of milk

  1. Why are you drinking bottled water on an extreme budget? Tap water is free! Tap water is also more closely monitored for 'bad stuff' than the bottled water.

Also, does your job have filtered water? That's what I drink all day long. Filtered office water and tea.

The potato soup was a good idea. You should also try non-milk based soups. If you roast a chicken, you'll get several meals of meat and the toss the carcass in water and simmer for a few hours for really good chicken broth.

I wholeheartedly agree with everyone's commentary on your junk food addition. No one over the age of 7 should try to subsist on Snickers and corn dogs.

  3. As far as bottled or tap water, what I do is buy a gallon of distilled drinking water for about 57 cents. Better than my tap water but a lot less than the invidiual serving bottled water. You can also do things like save the smaller bottles and fill them up from a bottled gallon, etc.
