October in Guatemala

October has just flown by!

We have been very busy this past month making plans with Benjamin & Elias Brito, the first two guys who will move in with us at the end of the year. We're raising support for Elias as he will be finishing his last year of high school, and we have a newsletter which you can read here. We had guys stay at our house almost every weekend this month and I was able to stay with the boys at Casa Shalom this past weekend. God blessed our time together with many great conversations.

We still haven't received the final land title from the municipality office where we live. It's an election year, and so everything seems to move extra slow! But I think that it's actually a blessing because we've been able to be much more focused on the boys and our ministry that will take place inside the house than on the actual house itself. So the delay has allowed us to be much more focused on building a different kind of foundation!

It's been an incredibly wet month because a tropical storm dumped rain on us for almost two weeks, which caused many mudslides and displaced thousands of families. We're grateful for God's protection and relieved that the storm has passed.

Here are our blog posts for October:

Our prayer requests for November:
  • Continued prayer as we plan how the house will function, and as we talk to the guys who will live with us.
  • Prayer that we can get the land title and that God will provide the finances necessary to build the houses.
  • We will be traveling to the USA on the 17th to spend Thanksgiving with my family and return to Guatemala the first week of December.
  • We will be sending out a newsletter while in the States in order to secure funding for ourselves for this coming year.
  • That Yuliza and I have enough time together as a couple and that we always keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.

Thank you so much for your prayers for us this past month! We are very grateful for all of the prayers and support that we've received. It's such an exciting time for us as we make plans to start the halfway house. And we need your prayers so that we can clearly hear God's will.

Dear Friends,

We are happy to share with you that through generous donations from online friends We reached our goal of raising $100.00 for the G3 Extra Life Xbox 360 Marathon to help Children's Miracle Network Hospital in Cincinnati Ohio.  And we actually went over our goal by $10.00.

To learn more about this event we are partaking in today, click the link below of the press release, reporter Alex Muraschko of the christianpost.com wrote about us and why we chose to do this gaming marathon.

At 8a.m. this morning the G3 marathon began and will run until 8 a.m. tomorrow morning.  We have chosen to do our marathon gaming time from 6-9p.m. est and also to Stream it LIVE on our website Tonight at www.jmclive.com so that anyone can get in on the action.  Here is a quick preview video of tonights event and even some of the games we will be playing

And even though we have reached our goal, if you feel led to give you can still make a donation because the more money we raise the more children who can be helped at Cincinnati Ohio's Children's Miracle Network Hospital here is the link to the donation page www.extra-life.org/index.cfm

God is truly amazing and continues to show us that even though Miranda is sick with a dibilitating disease and can't get out of the house much anymore. That we are still able to make a difference in the world we live in some how.

God Bless you Friends, and pray all of you are having a great weekend

September in Guatemala

September has been an incredibly busy yet exciting month for Yuliza and I here in Guatemala. The biggest highlight is that after many months of searching, we were able to purchase a piece of land!

Here are our blog posts for September:

Our prayer requests for October:
  • Two or three guys will start living with us by Christmas, and we're making plans and budgeting costs.
  • We're hoping to break ground in a few weeks on the new land, but we do not yet have enough money to finish both houses.
  • Please pray that we continue to be used by God to share His love with all the kids at Casa Shalom.
  • Please pray that Yuliza and I can spend enough time together as a couple amidst the busyness and that we keep our eyes always fixed on Jesus.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support!

Dear Friends,

It has been many weeks since we have sent out a newsletter, the reason is because Miranda has been very sick with her continued health problems.

At the beginning of August Miranda started seeing a Gastroentologist.  They have run tons of tests on her, including blood work and also a gastro emptying scan.  However, after the blood work results came back immediately the doctors office was calling us at 8:30 a.m. to tell us the news that every person dreads.  The Secretary informs us that the blood tests came back and there are signs that Miranda may have an intestinal disease along with her stomach problems.  So the doctor has scheduled Miranda for a colonoscopy for Next Wednesday.

To say the least we have been a little stressed.  Along with this news I am trying to continue doing JMC Ministries along with my college education and trying to take care of Miranda all at the same time.  But thankfully Miranda's family have stepped in to take care of her while I'm in school on days she is very sick and needs someone to stay with her or she goes to stay with family for a few days so they can monitor her in case she gets sick, which sadly is nearly every day now.  Miranda has severe pains in her intestines to the point she is crying out in pain.  And all I can do is hold her hand and pray, I feel completely helpless and we just cry out to God for help.

The only good news in all this is that Miranda is now on new medication for her stomach that is helping.  However, her days are scheduled around taking medication every 2-3 hours to keep her from being sick to her stomach.  In a 24 hour period Miranda takes up to 9 pills just so she can eat some what normally, but even then her intestine problems still keep her sick most days.

We are in desperate need of prayer, and a healing touch from the Lord.  Miranda has been sick like this for over 3 years now and it is truly taking a toll on us physically, mentally and spiritually.

As for JMC Ministries I am continuing do what I can when I have time, but the ministry has taken a back seat because of Miranda's illness.  But on days I get a break as well as Miranda we are still doing Eternal Flame News, JMC Live and writing and talking to people who ask for Prayer and are in need.

We will keep all of you updated on Miranda's condition as we find out more what is going on after the colonoscopy and other tests are run.

God Bless you friends

JMC Ministries
Jeremy and MIranda Caverley
