CNN Founder Ted Turner Says he is Glad Soldiers are Killing Themselves Then Apologizes

Did you hear this news yesterday? Ted Turner the founder of CNN said on Wednesday (Oct 24, 2012) nights edition of Piers Morgan that he thinks that it is good that American soldiers are committing suicide in large numbers because it shows an aversion to war. Tell that to the spouse that was left behind or the devastated parents. You know on the bright side Johnnies death shows that he had an aversion to war.
Please! Who in their right mind would say that to anyone? Watch the video clip yourself.

However, infowars.com is reporting this morning that late last night that Turner issued the following apology.
During my recent interview on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight, I inadvertently used the word “good” when asked for my thoughts on the increasing rate of suicide among U.S. military soldiers in the Middle East. It was certainly not my intent to imply that suicide is “good.” Rather, I was implying that it is good that the public is more aware of these tragedies and is more averse to war and war-related fatalities.

My message has always been one of peace, I believe that we’re born programmed to love and help each other, not to kill or hurt each other. I strongly support our U.S. troops and would never intentionally say anything to harm the brave men and women serving our country. I deeply apologize for any misunderstanding caused by this comment.

It's good that he apologized, but I don't buy for a minute that his original statement was unintentional.

The death of an Austin Icon errr Weirdo

This past week on March 8, 2012 Leslie Cochran, who many call "Austin's favorite cross-dresser," died. When I titled this article, I did so affectionately according to the man it is about. I never met this guy, not that I really ever wanted to, but since arriving in August 2010, I have never personally seen him and now I never will.

Austin’s favorite cross-dressing, stiletto-strutting, thong bearing homeless icon, Leslie Cochran, was announced dead today. The city lost more than a man this morning, and we don’t just mean his womanly alter-ego. Leslie was a legend, a landmark, often a mayoral candidate and always a hell of a time. Known for his high heels and g-strings, he turned more heads than slutty, under-age college girls. When he suffered a brutal beating that left him unconscious in 2010, the city came together and raised enough money to cover the brain surgery that saved his life. I had the pleasure of interviewing him briefly at Marley Fest after he left the hospital, and I was happy to find him up to his usual antics. Unfortunately, Leslie could not be revived this time around. RIP Leslie, we really love you, (wo)man.

- Coed Magazine

In memory of Leslie Coed Magazine compiled a set of pictures that really celebrate his life.

Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia had this to say about Leslie:
Albert Leslie Cochran (June 24, 1951 – March 8, 2012) was an American peace activist, cross-dresser, urban outdoorsman and outspoken critic of police treatment of the homeless. Cochran was known in Austin as Leslie.

Cochran was considered the man who personified "Keep Austin Weird.

...

Cochran was typically seen around 6th Street and Congress during business hours, frequently wearing women's clothing. His most popular attire was a leopard thong and high-heeled shoes. Cochran preferred, however, to be known as a man
- Wikipedia

Despite his appearance he was married for a very brief time according to Wikipedia from 1985-86. So I will join the chorus of other Austinites and wish him a hearty RIP, may God be with your soul.

Observations On Chuck

After watching Monday nights Chuck, I had some thoughts that I thought I would share with all of you. Perhaps you even began thinking the same thing after seeing that particular program.
In the show they learn of another intersect before chuck. One before Chuck was even born. He was known as Agent X. AS they try to find out who Agent X really was they find from some redacted files the name Hartley. Which leads them to a house in England. One thing leads to another but after an old lady claims to not know who Hartley is; other then he was a previous tenant in the house. She learns who Chuck's dad (Steven Bartoski aka Orion) is (who she tells Chuck was close to her son). Upon learning that she decides to help them when Vivian Volkoff's goons come looking for answers for Agent X. Even blowing up her own house when she runs out of ammunition.

Back in California (inside "Castle") they open the book that was given to them by the lady who we learned was Hartley's mom. Inside they locked box was a single photograph of Agent X. Here we begin to really learn that Agent X was a CIA agent who went rogue. In fact he has been a most want criminal mastermind throughout the show....Volkoof (who is in CIA custody). Yep, Vivian Volkoof's dad. Here at the urging of Jon Casey they stop looking for more answers because of what they uncover. Yet Casey had looked up something on the computer before he made that announcement. What did he see?

Back at home Ellie is encouraging Chuck to dig deeper. Saying there has to more that they didn't know. I think Ellie is right. I think Col. Casey is hiding something. Casey knows more then he is telling and I think I know what it is.

Here is what I think we will eventually find out (as Chuck won't let this sleep). I think eventually we will find that Chuck's dad and Volkoof are actually brothers. Meaning the show would be a whole lot more interesting. I mean think about it. Look at how he trusted his mom (an undercover CIA agent) when the CIA didn't. If he finds out he has family on both sides of the law. How will he handle that? Okay, what do you all think? Did you have some of the same thoughts after seeing the show?
