Forbes has released their best cities to find a job. Last year as you may remember, Austin, TX topped that list. Helping seal the plan to move here from Topeka, KS. This year there is no plans on moving even as Austin drops to number 2 on the list. My wife and I are both loving it here. However, here is the top 10 list, according to
Forbes Magazine as reported by
MSNBC.
- Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Austin, Texas
- Salt Lake City, Utah
- Boston, Massachusetts
- Milwaukee, Wisconsin
- Richmond, Virginia
- Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina
- Baltimore, Maryland
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Dallas, Texas
When it's all said and done looks like Texas again comes out on top with 2 out of 10 of the best cities to find a job in. The one that surprises me is Boston. With it's high taxes and high costs of being the only state in the nation to have socialized medicine. So what is the draw to Boston? According to the
MSNBC report the answer may be within the question. Socialized medicine may be the answer as well as the question.
Businesses in college towns often recruit locally, knowing that there are plenty of educated, talented candidates in the area. Another college town with a high level of educated workers is No. 4, Boston. “There are a lot of start-ups,” Chavez says of the city and its emerging entrepreneurial scene. Boston’s unemployment level dropped from 8.3 percent in 2009 to 7.1 percent in 2010, thanks to growth at nonprofits, financial services firms, and health care companies. “Health care is one of the most job-healthy industries across the board,” says Chavez. Information technology and software engineering are also strong fields throughout most major U.S. metro areas. - MSNBC
