Personal Income Growth was Up in 2007

With talk of a recession, a new report shows signs of a slowing economy, but doesn't really indicate a recession.

On Thursday, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis released personal income numbers for the nation’s 363 metro areas, with signs of a slowing U.S. economy: Growth slowed, but was still positive, in 208 metros; it accelerated in 144 others; and stayed the same in 11.

Only Palm Coast, Fla., north of Daytona Beach lost ground — with per capita personal income down 0.5 percent.

Where I live, here in Topeka, KS we were up.

The capital city's personal income rose 6.8 percent in 2007. Nationally, the rate of growth was 6.2 percent.

According to the Capital Journal, Topeka ranked 173rd in the Thursday's report, with an average salary of $33,670, out of 363 metropolitan areas. This number is down from the 162nd in 2006 and 165th in 2005.

Nationally, the Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, Conn. area had the highest per capita income at $80,192.

  1. Sorry to be the one to tell you that your blog sometimes lays out really poorly. Do you review your embeds or attachments or photos before you broadcast them/it? Also your spelling is sometimes poor
(i.e.recently a headline about Drawing a Skyscrapper instead of Skyscraper.)Headlines are really important and these days spelling can be corrected by computer so run a spellcheck.
Sorry to be the messenger on this.
I agree with a recent commentor about your staying in a low-paying industry. It's your business but you're not getting any younger.Reading your history,I feel sort of sad for you, getting older and being alone.

Thanks for your comment. I have known some tables don't show up properly and this morning I posted the article so fast this morning, as I was running out the door, that I failed to look at it in the final form. I have since removed the table (chart).

Thanks also about the spelling, I use firefox and the built in spell checker. The problem there is that the title box doesn't automatically allow spell checking, and sometimes I forget to right click to turn it on in that field.
