Wasteful Spending?

I bought two items this week. One I think was a wise investment of $10 for a dryer rack. The other, even though over a few years will save me money, might be considered wasteful at the moment. What do you think? That item was hair clippers for $25.

*** additional note - I only pay $7 (maybe $8 this year) to my barber. Since I let me hair go as long as I can, before work says something, I only see him 3-4 times a year. ****

  1. I don't think it's wasteful for hair clippers. I bought a pair 5 yrs ago and it pays itself in just 2 cuttings (figuring a haircut these days runs you about $12.50). I can't remember the exact last time I had my hair cut at a barbershop, but they basically only used the hair clippers.

Now if they were $200 hair clippers, that'd be a whole other discussion.

  2. The hair clipper purchase was masterful, in my opinion.

Eventhough, I'm balding I still use to spend over $10/bi-weekly on haircuts including the tip. I've estimated that I've saved over $780 in the last three years with my pair of $15 clippers/with attachments.

    You may a great investment

  3. Not wasteful IMO. I have cut my own hair for awhile myself though I'm planning to start paying someone again soon. The last time I paid was $15 and I expect it to be $15-20. If I go more than a month I start to look a little creepy.
