Soon To Try Ebay Again

I was talking to neighbor today, and he is going to help get some items photographed to put up on ebay. I don't have much valuable stuff, but will put a number of books, VHS movies, computer parts, sheetrock tape, and some other small items. I do of course have a coffee table and a metal desk to sale to, but am not sure how to try to sale them. Last time, I tried to ebay items I didn't do very well. Which confuses me, when I see a single Lay's potato chip sell for well over $1000.
Anyway, I am hoping to get at least $100 from my upcoming auctions, and would really rather get closer to $2000.
Any advice? What do you guys think?

  1. hmmm I just sold a ton of stuff on ebay, books....and did well, but the stuff you are talking about would do better at a yard sale in my opinion :)

A great idea, except, I don't have enough items for a yard sale and secondly I work nights (as well as weekends) making it difficult to have a yard sale while I am sleeping during the day, espcially since I am single, leaving no one else to hold the sale. In years past, I have had sales taking advantaging of community wide sales, so as to not to have to worry about paying for an ad in the paper.

  3. I have a question rather than a comment. I am fairly new at using the Internet regularly.(2 yrs.give or take) Anyway, I see all these ads for Ebay businesses then I see books at library about selling on Ebay.I don't have a lot to sell but I do have a few unusual books like 1 about Rin Tin Tin(star dog)
and original Dick and Jane books. Is it all hype or does this really work? How much time and money do you need to invest to make it work?
Prince,Have you looked into consigning items or getting neighbors to do a sale and split profits? liberty
